Planning a surprise proposal in Jamaica is one of the most meaningful things you will ever organise, and most of it happens from thousands of miles away, months before you arrive. A good proposal photographer in Jamaica makes that process straightforward. You share your dates, your resort or villa location, and any ideas you have. Everything else is planned together remotely, so by the time you land there is nothing left to figure out.
For surprise proposals, I arrive at the location before you do, position myself where I am invisible, and use a long lens to capture the moment from a distance. Your partner will not know I am there. After the question is answered, we continue with an engagement session in the same spot or somewhere nearby. By that point you are both relaxed and the images reflect it.

in Jamaica.
Jamaica has some of the most beautiful proposal settings in the Caribbean. In Montego Bay, Half Moon Resort offers a long private beach with dramatic scenery and enough space to position discreetly. Round Hill Hotel and Villas, the S Hotel beach strip, and Tryall Club are also popular for proposals in elevated, quiet settings. Secrets St. James and Sandals Montego Bay work well for couples staying at all inclusive properties.
In Negril, the cliffs at sunset are extraordinary. Tensing Pen, the clifftop at Rick's Cafe before it gets busy, and private cove spots south of Seven Mile Beach are among the most dramatic proposal locations on the island. The light at Negril in the final hour before sunset is unlike anywhere else in Jamaica.
Private villa proposals are also available island-wide. A pool terrace or ocean-view garden at a private villa can give you complete privacy for the moment and extraordinary settings for the engagement session that follows.

Will my partner know there is a photographer there?
No. For surprise proposals I arrive and position myself before you do, and use a long lens to capture everything from a distance. Your partner will not see me until after the proposal. We then introduce the session naturally as part of the celebration.
What is the best time of day for a proposal in Jamaica?
Sunset proposals are the most popular and the light is extraordinary in the final hour before the sun goes down. For beach locations this is typically between 5pm and 6:30pm depending on the time of year. Sunrise proposals are also possible for couples who want complete quiet and an empty beach.
Can you photograph a proposal at a Sandals or Secrets resort in Jamaica?
Yes. Proposals at Sandals Montego Bay, Sandals Negril, Secrets St. James, and other all inclusive resorts can be arranged. Some resorts require advance notice or charge an outside vendor fee. I can advise on what is needed for your specific property once you are in touch.
Do you stay for an engagement session after the proposal?
Yes. After the proposal we continue with an engagement session in the same location or somewhere nearby. By that point you are both relaxed and the photographs reflect it. This is often when the best images of the day are made.
Can I book an engagement session without a proposal?
Yes. Engagement sessions are available on their own for newly engaged couples. They also work well as pre-wedding photography for couples planning a destination wedding in Jamaica.
How far in advance should I book a proposal photographer in Jamaica?
As early as possible, particularly around Christmas, New Year, Valentine's Day, and spring break. Six to eight weeks in advance is recommended. If your dates are closer than that, it is still worth reaching out as availability does change.
What are the best proposal spots in Montego Bay?
Half Moon Resort beach, Round Hill Hotel, the S Hotel, and Tryall Club are among the best proposal locations in Montego Bay. All offer private or semi-private settings with beautiful scenery and good light in the late afternoon. I will recommend the right spot based on where you are staying.
What happens if it rains on the day of our proposal?
Jamaica's weather on the north coast is generally reliable. If rain affects the session we reschedule to the next available slot at no extra charge. If rescheduling is not possible due to your travel dates, a full refund is provided.
